The ambitious 16.75-km tunnel road project connecting Hebbal to Silk Board in Bengaluru has reached a critical evaluation phase after Adani Enterprises emerged as the lowest bidder for both contract packages. Designed under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) framework to serve as a high-capacity north–south transit corridor, the project’s bids have come in higher than the government’s baseline estimate of ₹17,780 crore.
In response, the Karnataka state government is forming a negotiations committee to engage with the bidder and explore options for lowering the project cost. While direct negotiation is the initial recourse, authorities are evaluating three strategic pathways, including the possibility of cancelling the current tender and re-inviting bids. Technical complexity and overall financial feasibility remain central considerations as the project moves forward.
